The Imperial Russian Helsinki

Finland became an autonomous Grand duchy of Russia and Helsinki was nominated by czar Alexander I to be developed as the new capital. The era of the emperors, three Alexanders and two Nicholases lasted for 110 years, from 1809 to 1917. Finland has well archived the stories and conserved the monumental buildings and preserved in the museums the objects of thise times. On this walking tour we shall get aquanted to many of those stories and view some the objects and the monuments.

Departure: The park of Old Church on Bulevardi street, by the arch. (opposite to Bulevardi 12)

The route: Bulevardi, Alexander´s theatre, Sinebrychoff museum and park, Hietalahti shipyard and market place, Lapinlahti Orthodox Cemetery. The tour ends at Lapinlahti Old mental hospital park. from where there is a short distance to Ruoholahti metro station or to Kamppi.
